MUTE Linear Pendant Light: light and acoustics in the same fitting

MUTE is a linear LED pendant with a sound-absorbing body. It is available in lengths of 72, 128 and 184 cm, with colour temperatures of 2700K, 4000K, 5000K and 6000K, and an IP54 rating. It solves two things at once: it lights and it absorbs sound.

Noise in open-plan spaces

In large volumes with hard surfaces —concrete, glass, high ceilings— sound bounces and reverberation drags on. The effect is familiar: voices overlap, it is hard to follow what is being said and the overall noise level climbs because everyone talks louder. It is not a question of insulating from outside, but of acoustic treatment inside the room itself.

How a suspended sound-absorbing body works

Hanging from the ceiling, MUTE is exposed to the sound field on every face. Its sound-absorbing body turns part of the acoustic energy reaching it into heat instead of sending it back into the room, cutting reflections and shortening reverberation. Spread out as a continuous line or across several units, it brings absorbent surface exactly where a fitting was going to be anyway, without taking up walls or adding extra panels.
