Table lamps with an E27 base
E27 table lamps take the large 27 mm screw base, the most widespread standard in home lighting. Their big advantage comes down to one sentence: the bulb is not part of the design, so you are the one who decides how it lights. The same base can give soft light for a bedside table or clear working light over a desk, simply by changing what you put inside. That is why table lamps with an E27 bulb are still the most versatile option for any corner of the house.
You choose the bulb and change the character of the lamp
In an E27 lamp you can fit a decorative LED filament when you want the bulb to be seen and add to the design, a higher output opal LED if you are after performance without direct glare in your eyes, or a dimmable bulb to adjust the intensity by time of day. You decide the wattage, the colour temperature and whether you want dimming, and you can change your mind later without throwing the lamp away. It is the cheapest way to refresh the light in a room: same base, different bulb, completely different result.
Light for reading in bed: why a warm temperature works better
If you are looking for E27 bedside lamps to read before sleeping, colour temperature matters more than wattage. A light of 2200K to 2700K, very warm and amber in tone, is far kinder at night and goes with winding down for bed; cool 6000K light does exactly the opposite and is best kept for work areas. At 3000K you get a slightly more neutral warm, comfortable for reading for a long stretch without tiring your eyes. And if the bulb is dimmable, you can drop it to minimum and use the lamp as a companion light.
Where to place an E27 table lamp
- Bedside table: at headboard height, with a shade that directs the light onto the book and not into your face.
- Desk: better on the opposite side to your writing hand, so it does not cast a shadow over the paper.
- Console or entrance hall: as a welcoming light point, the first thing you switch on when you get home.
- Living room: beside the sofa or on a sideboard, to light by zones instead of switching on the whole ceiling.
What to look at before buying
Check the overall height and the shade diameter, because they are what set how much area ends up lit. Check the type of switch, in line, foot or touch, according to how easy it is to reach from bed. And weigh up the shade material: fabric diffuses and softens, metal concentrates the beam downwards and glass leaves the bulb in view, which pairs very well with decorative filaments. Check the maximum wattage the lampholder takes too before choosing the bulb.
At FactorLED you will find E27 table lamps for relaxing, reading and decorating, along with the LED bulbs to set them up exactly to your taste. Choose your model and build the light you really want at home.
Frequently asked questions about E27 table lamps
What does E27 base mean?
It is the lampholder with a 27 mm diameter screw thread, the large one. Any bulb marked E27 fits these lamps.
Which bulb should I fit in a bedside lamp?
An E27 LED in a warm tone, between 2200K and 2700K, and dimmable if possible, so you can lower the light right before sleeping.
Can I change the bulb for a different one later on?
Yes. Being replaceable, you can go from a decorative filament to a more powerful opal LED whenever you like, respecting the maximum wattage the lamp takes.
Will an E14 bulb work in an E27 lamp?
Not directly: the E14 thread is 14 mm and will sit loose. Adapters exist, but it is best to always use the base the lamp calls for.
