A60 E27 LED bulbs are the best selling format in home lighting and the direct replacement for the classic incandescent bulb. The code says it all: the letter A stands for the standard pear shape and the number 60 for the bulb diameter in millimetres. If you have a ceiling light, a wall light, a desk lamp or a table lamp at home with a large screw thread, you almost certainly need an A60 LED bulb. What an A60 bulb is and what size it has

An A60 measures 60 mm at the widest part of the bulb and stands around 105-110 mm tall depending on the model, always with an E27 base (large 27 mm screw thread). You will find two main finishes:

How to choose your A60: wattage, colour temperature, dimming and finish

Start with the wattage equivalence. A 7-9 W LED replaces a 60 W incandescent and a 4-5 W one replaces a 40 W, so do not go looking for the old wattages: look for their equivalent. Then decide the colour temperature. Warm white at 2700-3000 K is the most welcoming for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms; neutral white at 4000 K brings clarity to kitchens, bathrooms and work areas; cool white at 6000 K is reserved for garages, storerooms and technical spaces. If you want the amber tone of the traditional filament, 2200 K is your reference.

Check too whether you need a dimmable version: only models labelled as such work with dimmer switches, and fitting a non-dimmable one on a dimmed circuit causes flickering and buzzing. Finally, pick the finish according to use: frosted if the bulb stays hidden and you want maximum lumens, filament if it is on show and you are after atmosphere.
