The C37 E14 LED bulb reproduces the tapered silhouette of a candle flame. In the format code, the C stands for candle shape and the 37 for the bulb diameter in millimetres: barely 37 mm at its widest point, with the narrow body that has made it the go to candle light bulb for chandeliers, candelabras and classic wall lights. When a fitting has several arms and little space between them, this is the format that fits.

What a C37 bulb is and what size it has

The bulb measures 37 mm across and stands around 100-105 mm tall, always with an E14 base, the narrow 14 mm thread used by almost every chandelier and decorative wall light. You will find two silhouettes worth telling apart:

On the finish, the rule is simple: frosted if the bulb sits inside a shade and you want maximum light, filament with a twisted tip if the lampholder is bare. You also add between 15,000 and 25,000 hours of service life compared with the 1,000-2,000 of an incandescent: something you notice when there are eight candles to replace on a high ceiling.
