Submersible LED lamps for swimming pools
A submersible LED lamp is the complete unit: body, optics, gasket and wiring all built to live underwater permanently. Unlike a replacement bulb, here you are buying the whole fitting, and that is what you need when you are building a new pool, when the old light has corroded, or when the light point doesn't follow the PAR56 format. We stock LED pool lamps from 6 to 45 W, in white and RGB, all running at 12 V and rated IP68.
Wattage to suit the size of the pool
Wattage isn't chosen out of habit, it's chosen by metres of water. The 6 and 12 W units cover small pools, spas, hot tubs and ponds, and they also work as a top-up in a large pool that already has its main light. The 18 W lamps are the usual middle ground in domestic pools. And the 45 W models with a G53 base reach furthest, intended for wide pools or for lighting from one side only. As a rule of thumb, it is better to spread several mid-power points than to concentrate everything in one: submerged light falls away quickly with distance and moving water.
AISI 316 stainless steel: the material decides
Every reference in this range is made in AISI 316 stainless steel, the grade that stands up to chlorine and salt air without pitting. It is the difference between a lamp that is still intact years later and one that starts staining the pool with rust. If you are comparing prices between models that look identical, check this figure before anything else.
White or colour
White is the working light: it lets you see the floor, the steps and whoever is in the water, which comes first in a family pool. RGB turns the pool into the centrepiece of the garden at night and is controlled by remote. There is a 45 W RGB dimmable reference, which also lets you bring the intensity down. Keep one detail in mind: colour reads far better in pools with a light-coloured finish, because a dark lining swallows much of the effect.
Packs with the housing included
For a new installation there are references that pair the 45 W G53 lamp with its housing, the recessed shell that is concreted into the pool. Buying them together avoids the most common mistake on site: fitting a housing that later turns out not to match the lamp you have chosen.
Tell us about your pool and we'll tell you how many light points you need
Send us the pool dimensions, the colour of the lining and whether it is a new installation or a replacement. We'll suggest the wattage and the number of lamps, and confirm availability before you buy.
Frequently asked questions
How many lamps do I need in my pool?
It depends on the surface area and the shape of the pool, but the aim is to cover the length without leaving dark patches. Long pools usually need more than one point, and it's worth placing them on the longest wall at the same depth so the light is even. Give us the dimensions and we'll work it out with you.
At what depth are they installed?
They normally sit 40 to 60 cm below the waterline: deep enough that the beam doesn't dazzle anyone standing outside, and high enough for the light to cross the pool without being lost. Always follow the instructions from the maker of your housing.
Can I install a submersible lamp in a pond or a fountain?
Yes, as long as it is permanent immersion in fresh water and you keep to 12 V with the transformer outside the water. The IP68 rating is precisely what certifies that use.
What is a G53 base?
It is the two-pin base fitted to the 45 W PAR56 format. It doesn't screw in: you push it in and turn. If you are replacing an existing lamp, check that yours is G53 before choosing.
