Luminaires with Osram chip at FactorLed

Two luminaires with the same wattage can deliver very different results after two years. The difference usually lies in a three-millimetre part that does not appear in the product photo: the chip that emits the light.

In this category we bring together the luminaires with Osram chip that we have been manufacturing since 2015: downlights, slim panels, ceiling lights, bulbs, tubes, floodlights, UFO high bays, street lights, waterproof battens and profiles for design ceilings. Most of them use the Osram chip Duris E 2835 package; the MAGNUM DOB floodlights use the SMD3030-3D from the same manufacturer. Up to 5 years warranty in writing, depending on the series.

We offer trade pricing for installers, engineering firms, maintenance companies and resellers: volume discounts, a customised catalogue and delivery of a complete project in a single order. If you send us the floor plan, we will return the lighting point calculation before you buy.

Osram LED chip: what it is and why it matters in a luminaire

An Osram LED chip is the semiconductor component that converts current into light inside the luminaire. OSRAM is a German manufacturer with more than a century of history in lighting, and today its semiconductor division operates as ams OSRAM. When a datasheet says "OSRAM chip", it refers to that component, not to OSRAM manufacturing the complete luminaire.

That distinction avoids confusion. The consumer bulbs bearing the OSRAM brand that you see in large retail stores are marketed by LEDVANCE under licence. We do something different: we buy the chip, design the board, the heat sink and the optics, and choose the driver. The result is a FactorLed luminaire with an OSRAM light source.

Why look at the chip? Because three things that become noticeable with use depend on it: efficacy (how many lumens it delivers per watt), colour consistency between units from the same batch, and luminous flux depreciation over the hours. A low-end chip may perform similarly in the first month and then turn yellowish or lose light from the first year onwards. That is why serious manufacturers state the chip brand on the datasheet, and why it is worth looking for it.

Osram chip Duris E 2835: technical features of the package

The Osram chip Duris E 2835 is a mid-power LED in a 2.8 × 3.5 mm SMD format. The number 2835 refers precisely to those dimensions. It is one of the most widespread packages in general lighting because it balances efficacy, cost and heat distribution: instead of concentrating all the energy in a single point, the board spreads out dozens of small chips and the aluminium dissipates heat better.

What some people search for as Osram Duris E chip is the same family written in a different order. It is manufactured in several colour temperatures and in high colour rendering versions, so it can be used both in an office and in a shop where the colour of the product matters.

In our catalogue, this chip translates into specific figures you can check on each datasheet:

  • Ceiling lights with sensor at 150 lm/W and round downlights of up to 160 lm/W.
  • UGR17 downlights and panels for glare-free office workstations.
  • 4CCT Select slim panels, where you choose the colour temperature on the luminaire itself.
  • MAGNUM DOB floodlights with SMD3030-3D of up to 180 lm/W for outdoor use.

An honest clarification: the chip is one part of the whole, not the whole. A good LED mounted on a board that overheats loses service life. That is why, in each series, we combine the chip with a properly sized heat sink and a branded driver (GXtronic, Lifud or OSRAM depending on the model).

SMD Osram chip for indoor use: downlights, panels, bulbs and tubes

Most of the SMD Osram chip luminaires we build go into indoor spaces, where light quality is noticed day to day.

In offices and private offices, the round and square slim panels from 6 W to 30 W, the 60x60 panels in packs and the QUASAR or PALACE downlights cover suspended grid ceilings and plasterboard ceilings. With UGR17, the light does not cause screen glare, and with 4CCT you choose between warm and neutral tones on site, without having to get it right at the time of purchase.

For direct replacement, the 9 W, 12 W and 15 W E27 A60 bulbs, the E14 candle bulbs, the G95 globe bulbs and the GU10 spotlights fit the existing lampholder. It is the fastest way to switch to LED without touching the installation.

In warehouses, corridors and technical areas, the high-brightness glass tubes in 60, 120 and 150 cm and the 20 W, 40 W and 60 W IP66 GXtronic waterproof battens cover dusty or humid environments. Ceiling lights with radar or motion sensors only switch on when someone is present, which is where the greatest savings are made in transit areas.

And for design projects, the ARTISTIC line of linear profiles, connectors and hexagonal panels lets you draw custom ceilings with the same chip throughout the installation, keeping the shade of white uniform from one end to the other.

Luminaires with Osram chip for outdoor and industrial use

Outdoors, the chip works in tougher conditions: accumulated heat in summer, cold in winter and long operating hours. This is where a stable package makes the difference in maintenance.

The floodlights range from 10 W to 200 W in the ACTION PRO and Avant Pro series, with a 5-year warranty on the latter, and reach 400 W in MAGNUM DOB with 60º and 90º beam angles.

For industrial buildings, the UFO ENDURANCE high bays with selectable wattage (from 80 W to 200 W) let you adjust the level to the actual mounting height, and accept a 60º reflector when the beam needs to be concentrated.

In public and private lighting, the AVANT and AREA FLEX street lights cover streets, car parks and industrial estates. And for gardens and façades, the 12 W AERO bollards and wall lights, with a 310º adjustable head and IP65, direct light where it is needed without spilling onto the neighbouring plot.

If your specification requires a specific IP rating, IK rating or CRI value, send it to us before you buy and we will confirm in writing which references meet it.

High-power vs mid-power LED components: how to choose

A frequent question is which features define a high-power LED component and whether it is a better choice than a mid-power one such as the Duris E.

A high-power LED concentrates several watts in a single emitting point. It delivers a lot of light per chip, but requires a large heat sink and precise optics, and it is common in long-range floodlights or very narrow-beam spotlights. A mid-power LED such as the 2835 works with lower currents spread across many chips. It generates less heat per point, offers more uniform light and usually achieves higher efficacy in general lighting.

The features worth comparing are the same in any case:

  • Efficacy (lm/W): how much useful light you get per watt consumed.
  • CRI: how faithfully colours are reproduced; 80 or above for general use and 90 or above for retail or inspection.
  • Lumen maintenance: how much light the LED retains after thousands of hours.
  • Colour consistency (binning): two luminaires from the same batch giving the same white.
  • Operating temperature: heat is what shortens the life of an LED the most.

In practice, for an office, a shop or a medium-height industrial building, a well-cooled mid-power chip is usually the most balanced option. For a stadium or a lighting tower, the conversation changes and we will advise you on the right series.

Where to buy luminaires with quality LED chips in Spain

If you are looking for a distributor of LED light sources in Spain, it is worth distinguishing between two types of supplier: those who sell loose chips to electronics manufacturers and those who sell finished luminaires ready to install.

FactorLed belongs to the second group. We do not sell loose chips or electronic components, but luminaires with Osram chip that are already assembled, tested and covered by warranty. We are a manufacturer and distributor based in Pinto (Madrid) and we ship to Spain and other European markets.

Buying from the manufacturer has specific advantages for a professional: the same reference stays in the catalogue when you need to restock, the shade of white matches between orders and any issues are handled directly, without intermediaries.

A note on automotive: LED chips for vehicles meet different requirements (vibration, extreme temperature ranges and specific type approval for road use). Our range is designed for architectural, commercial and industrial lighting, not for car headlights or bulbs.

To buy on business terms, request our trade price list at comercial@factorled.com, attaching your tax documentation. From there you get access to volume discounts, a catalogue with your own brand and blind shipping if you resell. If you would rather talk it through first, call us on +34 91 805 67 67.

Frequently asked questions about luminaires with Osram chip

What types of spotlights and luminaires with OSRAM chip do you offer?

Downlights, slim panels, 60x60 panels, ceiling lights with sensor, E27, E14 and GU10 bulbs, glass tubes, IP66 waterproof battens, floodlights from 10 W to 400 W, UFO high bays, street lights and outdoor wall lights. Most of them use the Duris E 2835 chip.

What is the best chip for LED lights?

It depends on the application. For general lighting, a mid-power chip from a recognised manufacturer, such as the OSRAM Duris E 2835, offers a good balance between efficacy, stable colour and service life. What matters most is that it is properly cooled and paired with a quality driver.

Which brand is better, OSRAM or Philips?

Both are benchmarks, and in our catalogue they stand out in different components: OSRAM mainly as a chip and Philips as a driver (Xitanium and CertaDrive). Rather than choosing a brand, it is worth checking the efficacy, CRI and warranty of the complete luminaire.

Is OSRAM a Spanish brand?

No. OSRAM is a German brand historically headquartered in Munich. Its semiconductor business is now part of ams OSRAM. FactorLed, on the other hand, is a Spanish manufacturer that integrates these chips into its luminaires.

How can I tell if an LED is good?

Check that the datasheet states the chip brand, the efficacy in lm/W, the CRI and the warranty. If a manufacturer does not say which chip it uses or how many years it covers in writing, that is a sign to ask before buying.

Can you calculate how many luminaires I need?

Yes. With the floor plan, the ceiling height and the use of each area, we will carry out the lighting study in DIALux free of charge and with no obligation to buy.

What warranty do they have and how is a claim handled?

Up to 5 years depending on the series. Claims are opened via RMA from the customer area, with no need to call.

Tell us which space you want to light, the mounting height and the use of each area. We will send you a proposal of luminaires with Osram LED chip with the layout of lighting points and your business pricing already applied.
