Industrial LED batten
An LED batten is neither a high bay nor a panel: it is a continuous line of light that spreads the output along an aisle, an assembly bench or a warehouse picking line. When the space is long and narrow, no other product family does the job as well.
At FactorLED we manufacture the whole family, and you can browse it in LED Linear Lighting: surface-mounted versions that screw to the ceiling, suspended Pendant Lights for spaces with generous clear height and Weatherproof Battens for damp or dusty areas. We offer trade pricing for installers, industry, architects and resellers.
LED linear battens: what an LED batten solves in an industrial building
A batten is not a matter of taste. A square space is lit with fittings spread out on a grid; a long one, such as a racking aisle, a production line, a loading bay or a repair workshop, calls for a continuous line, because isolated fittings leave pools of shadow between them exactly where the operator is working.
These fittings are linked in a row: each section connects to the next at the ends, forming an unbroken strip as long as the aisle requires. That is the real difference compared with hanging separate fittings and hoping the overlap works out.
The perceived light intensity changes too. A continuous line spreads the same output over a larger area, so contrast between bright and dark zones drops and eye strain is less noticeable at the end of a shift. Wherever people read labels, codes or screens, that distribution matters more than raw wattage.
And it is a decision best made before buying: switching product family halfway through a job means redoing the wiring and the fixings.
Lengths and wattages of an industrial LED batten: from the short section (18W) to 72W
Our surface-mounted battens come in four catalogue lengths: 30, 60, 120 and 150 cm. Those four sections cover almost any floor plan, and they can be combined to match the exact length of the aisle without leaving a stretch in the dark.
Wattage goes hand in hand with length. The linear range includes 18W models for the 60 cm section, 24W at 60 cm, 36W at 120 cm, 50W at 150 cm and up to 72W in the version of almost two metres. The weatherproof range scales in a similar way: 18W at 60 cm, 20W at 120 cm and 24W or 48W at 150 cm, depending on whether they take one or two tubes.
That range is what lets you fine-tune the project instead of over-lighting it. A warehouse with tall racking and narrow aisles is better served by two lines of mid-length sections than by a single high-power line down the middle, because the racking itself casts shadow.
In open-plan industrial buildings the layout changes again; in an agricultural machinery workshop the height of the machine dictates the design, and in commercial spaces with low ceilings a perimeter line is usually enough. For detailed calculations we work in lux on the working plane rather than watts: wattage tells you what the fitting consumes, not what reaches the bench.
Cool white light, 6000K, 6500K or 5700K and colour temperature: how many lumens powerful lighting needs
Colour temperature is chosen for the task, not for taste.
Our linear fittings come in 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5700K, 6000K and 6500K versions, as well as the coolest end of the scale, and much of the range offers selectable CCT, with a switch on the fitting itself so the choice can be made on site. 4000K is the benchmark for general work in industrial buildings and workshops; cooler light comes in where there is visual inspection or quality control, because it helps pick out detail.
Luminous flux is the figure that lets you compare two fittings, and it should be read as declared at the same colour temperature. But the number that decides the project is the level on the working plane. Bright lighting that is poorly distributed causes glare and dead zones; well-calculated lighting delivers uniform illumination with fewer fittings installed and a light beam that reaches where it needs to.
That is why the information we always ask for before quoting is the clear height and the width of the aisle. With that and the actual use of the area, we work out the right lighting layout, and from it the bill of materials.
Aluminium luminaire with ip65 and dimmable driver: LED light without flicker or stroboscopic effect
An industrial linear luminaire is judged on three things: housing, optics and electronics.
The aluminium housing acts as a heat sink. LEDs lose output and efficiency when they run hot, so the extruded profile is not just a nice finish: it is what keeps the junction temperature where it should be. Our surface-mounted linear fittings come in white, black, silver and anodised finishes, with an opal diffuser on some series and low-glare UGR17 optics on others, designed for areas with screens.
The ingress protection rating is chosen according to the environment. For a dry, clean industrial building, the IP20 or IP54 of the surface-mounted linear fitting is enough; in cold rooms, wash-down areas, car parks or workshops with airborne dust, the answer is the weatherproof batten, with a sealed housing that can be linked in a continuous line. A polycarbonate diffuser withstands impact better than an acrylic one, which is worth bearing in mind in aisles used by industrial vehicles.
Electronics are the most underestimated part. We use branded drivers, Philips, Lifud, Osram and Sosen depending on the series, in ON/OFF versions and dimmable via 1-10V, TRIAC, PUSH and DALI-2. A fitting with no perceptible flicker is not a luxury: flicker is paid for in headaches and reading errors at fixed workstations. And where there is rotating machinery it matters even more, because flicker at the wrong frequency can make a spinning part look as though it has stopped.
Our industrial range is rated for 50,000 hours of operation; that long service life is genuine, and cover extends to up to six years' warranty depending on the model. That is what justifies the switch: replacing a fitting in an industrial building with a forklift costs more in downtime than in materials.
LED light bar in workspaces: installation and maintenance
Fitting an LED light bar is quick, and that is where much of the saving lies.
The surface-mounted linear fitting screws directly to the slab or the profile and connects to the next section at the end; there is no need to break into a suspended ceiling or prepare a cut-out. With ease of installation as a purchasing criterion, an electrician can finish an entire aisle in a day.
The suspended version is used when the ceiling is high and the light needs to be brought down to the working plane. Our linear pendants come in 112, 140 and 197 cm, with black, white and anodised finishes, 0-10V, TRIAC or DALI dimming, and some series with adjustable ends and a built-in presence sensor.
Looking five years ahead, what matters is being able to replace a part without dismantling the whole line and without the colour temperature standing out against the neighbouring fittings. That is why we maintain continuity across the range and manufacture much of the product ourselves.
The profile finish is not just about looks: white blends into a light suspended ceiling and black disappears when the slab is painted dark, which is common in converted industrial buildings and in workshops with exposed structures. Choosing it well stops the line from jarring as soon as you walk in and saves arguments with the site supervisor.
The compact design of the profile also counts in refurbishments: it fits where a high bay will not and makes it possible to light a mezzanine or a loft with little clear height.
12v, 24v and outdoor LED: what each industrial LED fitting supports
Not everything runs at 230V.
Part of the linear range works at low voltage, with versions powered by an external power supply. This is the usual approach when the batten is built into technical furniture, racking, a counter or a recessed profile, and also when it makes sense to separate it from the power circuit. You will find the power supplies and Drivers in the same catalogue, with wattages to size the complete line.
At 230V the driver is built into the fitting itself, with no separate power supply, and this is the standard in industrial buildings, workshops and warehouses.
When the line goes outdoors, such as a loading bay, a canopy or a dispatch porch, the product changes family: that calls for sealing and cable glands that an indoor linear fitting does not have. You will find these in Outdoor And Garden.
And in high-ceilinged industrial buildings the batten is no longer the answer: the project is solved with high bays. If that is your case, the industrial LED high bays in our UFO LED High Bay range cover 100W to 200W with 60º, 90º and 120º optics.
Industrial LED batten at the best price: powerful LEDs with business pricing
This is where the purchase is decided.
We are a manufacturer and industrial lighting specialists since 2015, based in Pinto (Madrid). Every industrial LED batten comes from our own range, with high-performance LEDs, proven LED technology and branded components, and replacements are still available two years on in the same colour temperature and the same finish.
With trade pricing activated you buy at wholesale level: automatic volume discounts, a personalised catalogue with your details, blind shipping if you resell and dropshipping connected to your shop. You apply through the online shop with your company or sole-trader documentation, and from then on the prices on your account are trade prices.
In mixed projects the batten sits alongside other families: recessed LED downlights for the adjoining offices, floodlights for the yard and linear fittings for the aisle. That is the advantage of buying all your industrial LED lighting in one place, with a single point of contact for all the LED industrial lighting on the project. You have it all in Indoor Industrial Lighting, in a single order and with lighting solutions tailored to the specific needs of each area.
On payback: switching to professional LED with high efficiency shows up on the electricity bill from the very first billing cycle, and the energy efficiency of the installation improves further if presence detection is added in circulation areas. CE marking and rohs compliance are entry requirements for any professional project, and the documentation ships with the order.
If you want the calculations done for you, our technician prepares a DIALux study on your floor plan: fitting layout, levels by area and expected consumption. Email us at uk@factorled.com or call 91 805 67 67 with the dimensions and the clear height.
Frequently asked questions
How many sections do I need for a racking aisle?
It depends on the width, the clear height and the height of the racking, which is what creates the shadow. With the floor plan and those three figures, we will send you back the number of sections and the wattage per section, with no surplus material.
Can I mix sections of different lengths in the same line?
Yes, as long as they are from the same series and the same colour temperature. It is the usual way to make up the last metre of an aisle. What you should avoid is mixing colour temperatures in the same line of sight: it shows as soon as you walk in.
Which industrial LED batten goes in a damp area?
The weatherproof one. The surface-mounted batten is for dry indoor areas and offers more finishes and optics; the sealed one withstands dust and water jets, and it is the one fitted in cold rooms, wash bays, car parks and forklift areas.
Does dimming have to be decided when ordering?
Yes. The dimmable version and the control protocol, 1-10V, TRIAC, PUSH or DALI, are built into the fitting. Changing it later means replacing the whole fitting, not just the control. It is best decided when placing the order.
Do you supply large projects in one go?
We manufacture much of the range and keep stock of our project series, so we can supply volume and guarantee replacements later on. For a large order, the practical thing is to talk to our sales team before finalising the list.
How do I get trade pricing?
You apply for a business account on the website by providing your tax details. Once approved, volume discounts are applied automatically on every order and you get access to reseller terms. In industry jargon this is known as project linear lighting, and it is where the reseller's margin really shows.
Send us the floor plan of the aisle with its width and clear height, and we will send you back the section layout, the wattage of each industrial LED batten and a quote with your pricing already applied.
