Industrial LED panel
Every industrial building has a part that a high-mounted luminaire cannot handle: the shop-floor office, the plant room, the laboratory, the changing rooms, the quality control area. There, the panel is the right answer, and it pays not to mix up the two product families.
We manufacture the full range, which you will find under LED Panels, in 60x60, 120x30, 120x60 and 60x30 formats, with outputs from 24W to 80W and dimmable versions. We offer trade pricing for installers, industry, architects and resellers.
Industrial LED panel: where it really fits in an industrial setting
Clear ceiling height is what decides.
Above six or seven metres, the layout is solved with an LED high bay: it concentrates the luminous flux and reaches the floor without spreading out. Below that, and especially where there is a suspended grid ceiling with lift-out tiles, the panel wins hands down, because it drops into the module and delivers flat light with no hot spots.
In a real plant, both coexist. The production area calls for one type of fitting and the block of offices, laboratories and plant rooms calls for another. Mixing them up is costly: a high bay over a desk three metres below is hard on the eyes, and a panel nine metres up simply does not reach.
The panel also comes into its own where hygiene rules, in food processing, pharmaceuticals and cleanrooms, because its surface is smooth, it does not collect dust on fins and it can be wiped clean in one pass.
And there is a third case, the most common one in refurbishments: replacing the recessed fluorescent fittings in a technical area. The ceiling tile format is already there and the swap is direct, with no building work and no need to redo the grid.
Another frequent case is expansion. When an industrial building grows and a mezzanine is enclosed for offices, the sensible thing is to light that new area with the same criteria as the existing one, not with whatever was left over in the warehouse. Keeping the same colour tone and the same family throughout the plant saves arguments at project handover.
What you should not do is design the entire plant around a single family. A good project mixes them, and each area gets the fitting it needs.
Surface-mounted, recessed or suspended: which ceiling suits each installation
The type of ceiling decides the format before the wattage does.
In a lay-in grid ceiling, the square panel drops into the module and rests on the profile. It is the cleanest installation and the quickest to maintain: you lift the tile and replace the unit without touching anything else. For elongated grids there is the 120x30, and for large modules the 120x60.
Where there are no suspended ceilings, surface-mounted LED panels come in: the same unit with a frame kit that stands it off the slab and allows it to be screwed on directly. We supply these kits as accessories, along with frames for recessing into plasterboard and suspension kits with steel cable.
That last option solves high-ceilinged floors where a high bay is not the right choice: the fitting hung at working height delivers the required light level with far less installed power.
In continuous plasterboard ceilings, the recessed frame leaves it flush with no visible joint. It means more on-site work, but it is the finish that architectural projects call for.
It is also worth checking weight and fixing. A standard lift-out tile easily supports a unit resting on it, but in a suspended installation the steel cable must be anchored to the structure, never to the grid profile. It is a site detail that is often forgotten and that later means going back.
Choosing the mounting method before you buy avoids the classic mistake of ordering the unit and discovering on site that the accessories are missing. Tell us how the ceiling is built and we will tell you which kit you need.
LED luminaires and LED lighting: lumens, glare and choosing the right luminaire
A luminaire of this type is compared on three figures, and none of them is the wattage.
The first is luminous flux. Our models range from 24W to 80W depending on format, and what changes from one to another is not just the power: it is the efficacy. A unit that delivers more lumens per watt lets you reduce the number of light points and the electricity consumption of the whole plant.
The second is glare. Our project-grade units are UGR19, the reference value for screen-based workstations. A cheap opal diffuser spreads light but is uncomfortable when you look up; a microprismatic diffuser cuts the beam at the critical angle and maintains light quality across the whole desk.
The third is light distribution. These units spread light with a wide beam angle, in the region of 120º, which is why they provide uniform lighting without the need to overlap light points. Optics that concentrate the beam serve a different purpose: bringing light down from a great height.
With those three figures and the floor plan, the illuminance level for each area is calculated. High brightness is not a goal in itself: the goal is the correct level on the working plane, distributed without shadows or dead zones.
And there is a fourth criterion that hardly anyone looks at: colour consistency between units in the same order. When two adjacent units do not match the same white, you can see it from the doorway and there is no way to fix it without replacing one of them. That is why we supply project series from the same batch whenever the volume allows.
It is also important to compare like-for-like datasheets. Two units with the same wattage can declare very different luminous fluxes, and the difference usually lies in the chip and the temperature at which it was measured.
Lighting with energy efficiency: consumption, quality and durability
Lighting a technical area can be cheap or expensive depending on what is installed.
The real cost is not measured on the label, it is measured in operating hours. An office block in an industrial building that switches on at seven in the morning and off at seven in the evening pays for around 3,000 hours a year per installed light point; at that rate, a difference of two or three lm/W shows up on the bill.
Energy savings grow when dimming is added. We have dimmable versions with DALI, PUSH, TRIAC and 0-10V, so the row nearest the window can dim automatically while the inner rows keep their level. With a motion sensor in toilets, archive rooms and corridors, consumption drops without anyone having to remember to switch off.
That low energy consumption and that long service life are two pillars of the payback. The third is low maintenance: a unit that does not need replacing every season does not force you to shut down the area or put up scaffolding.
Durability and robustness come from the heat sink and the electronics, not from the brochure. And it is worth saying plainly: an installation is environmentally friendly because it uses less energy and lasts longer, not because the packaging says so.
Chip, driver and materials that last in an industrial LED fitting
This is where professional LED lighting stands apart from bargain-bin products, and the difference shows on the datasheet long before it shows on the shelf.
The LED chip is the heart of the unit. Our range uses SMD2835, SMD3030, SMD4014 and OSRAM DURIS E chips depending on the model, and the chip type determines efficacy and colour stability over the years.
The driver is the component that fails most often in cheap products. A branded driver, Philips CertaDrive or Lifud depending on the series, keeps the current stable, introduces no flicker and withstands the micro-interruptions of an industrial power supply, which are an everyday occurrence in a plant with machinery starting up.
In the project range the frame is aluminium, not painted plastic: it dissipates heat better and does not yellow. These are durable materials designed for an installation that has to last, and that is what allows us to offer a long warranty. The buying criterion is not top quality on paper: it is the figure that appears on the datasheet.
In industrial spaces with humidity or pressure washing, there are models with a high protection rating of IP65, and there it stops being an extra and becomes the requirement that prevents failures. A well-specified industrial LED fitting is chosen for its environment, not its price.
And when the mounting height goes very high, no panel will do: where you need a 150W LED luminaire with high power, the answer is the UFO LED High Bay. That industrial LED high bay covers what the panel cannot reach, and both families can be bought together in the same order.
Work areas and technical zones: where the industrial LED panel goes
In warehouses this family has a very specific place, and it pays to get it right first time.
The picking area with high racking calls for a different solution. But the packing area, the labelling bench, the plant room and the dispatch office are lit this way, because they are low-height reading tasks that need flat, glare-free light.
Colour temperature is chosen by task. We offer 3000K, 4000K, 5700K and 6000K, plus selectable CCT versions with a switch on the unit. 4000K is the standard project value for general work; cool white is reserved for visual inspection and quality control.
In high-ceilinged spaces the fitting is hung with a suspension kit instead of being mounted up at the top. It is the way to handle large open spaces without installing twice the power needed.
In the offices attached to the plant, the criteria change again. There, visual clutter matters: a poorly chosen diffuser reflects on the screen and forces the user to turn the desk. That is why we always ask where people sit before finalising the light point layout.
Staff visibility and safety depend on that layout more than on raw power: an aisle with uniform, glare-free light reduces trips and label-reading errors.
In complete industrial buildings, the project is split between families: industrial high bays for the high-ceiling area, linear fittings for the racking aisles and panels for the technical areas. That LED lighting for industrial buildings is decided area by area, with the floor plan in front of us, and for each one we run the calculation in DIALux and send you back your lighting requirements resolved as a bill of materials.
Buy your industrial LED panel at trade prices
This is where the purchase is decided, and the argument is the same one we use with any installer.
We have been a manufacturer since 2015, based in Pinto (Madrid), and the LED technology we fit is the one we specify: branded chip and driver, not the cheapest component of the month. That is what underpins the high quality of the range and what lets you reorder two years later with the same colour tone.
With a trade account activated, you buy at wholesale level: automatic volume discounts, a personalised catalogue with your details, blind shipping if you resell and dropshipping connected to your online shop. You apply with your company or self-employed documentation, and from then on the prices on your profile are trade prices.
The high efficiency of the whole package shows when the entire project is bought from one place. A complete industrial LED lighting scheme also includes Floodlights for the yard and loading area, where a wide-beam LED floodlight is the right choice, and recessed LED spotlights for walkways. All our LED industrial lighting is in Indoor Industrial Lighting, and the dimmable versions are in Dimmable LED Panel.
These project LED lights are supplied together, with a single point of contact and a single delivery, and that is the real difference compared with buying each family from a different supplier. An LED industrial high bay and a panel from the same manufacturer match in colour tone and warranty; bought separately, they almost never do.
If you are looking for efficient lighting with high energy efficiency and proven high luminous efficacy, send us the floor area, the clear height and how the ceiling is built. Email uk@factorled.com or call 91 805 67 67 and we will prepare a proposal with your trade pricing applied.
Frequently asked questions about professional industrial LED panels
Which format should I order for a standard grid ceiling?
The square panel fits the module without accessories. If the grid is elongated, go for the 120x30; if the module is large, the 120x60. Send us a photo of the ceiling tile and we will confirm before you order.
Can I fit it where there are recessed fluorescent fittings now?
Yes, it is the most common replacement. If the ceiling already has the opening, it goes straight in; if the opening does not match, it is solved with a recessed frame or a surface-mounting kit.
What is the difference between an office panel and one for an industrial building?
The environment and the UGR, not the name. For screen-based workstations you need UGR19; for damp areas or areas with pressure washing, a model rated IP65. The format can be the same.
Do dimmable panels need special installation?
They need the control line their protocol requires: DALI, 0-10V, PUSH or TRIAC. It has to be decided when ordering, because the driver is built into the unit and cannot simply be swapped later.
Do I need an electrician for the replacement?
For a direct replacement on an existing circuit, any qualified installer can do it in a short time. If a control line has to be installed for dimming or the fixing has to be changed, it is best to have them look at it beforehand and quote the labour separately.
Can you supply large quantities in one go?
Yes. We manufacture the entire range and keep stock of the project series, so we can supply volume and guarantee later reorders with the same colour tone and the same finish.
Send us the floor plan with the clear height and the type of ceiling, and we will send you back the light point layout, the right industrial LED panel format for each area and a quote with your trade pricing already applied.
